Organization

IbnSina Mindcrafters has a three tier organizational structure: Executive Board, Management Team and Local Chapters.

 

Executive Board

The executive board consists of the following Directors

Rashad Hussain

Rashad was born and raised in Oxford, England, UK. He obtained a Master of Engineering in Electronics Engineering for the University of Leeds in 2007. Since graduation Rashad has been working in industry as a Test and Systems Engineer delivering hardware/software based systems. He is able to program in numerous languages including Java and LabVIEW. He moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2015 and created the first version of the robotics curriculum to be taught by IbnSina Mindcrafters in 2016. Rashad is a founding member of IbnSina Mindcrafters was instrumental in its expansion. Rashad taught the curriculum to other organizations in Albuquerque and Austin (Texas). In 2018 Rashad returned to the UK and registered IbnSina Mindcrafters as a Community Interest Company.

Management Team

The management team is responsible for accomplishing IbnSina Mindcrafters mission. The current management team includes:

Rashad Hussain

Rashad is the company Director for IbnSina Mindcrafters. He is directing the activities to establish IbnSina Mindcrafters in the UK along with developing future curriculums and coordinating support to the US Local Chapters and partner organizations.

Nicholas Leathe

Nick graduated in 2011 with a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in computer science at the University of New Mexico. Since 2011, Nick has worked at Sandia National Laboratories working on mechanical design. In 2015 and 2016, he mentored First Lego League teams through the New Mexico state championships. Nick is part of the USA based team that is supporting local chapters and partner organizations in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Stephanie Bouchey

Stephanie is originally from Colorado.  She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a Mechanical Specialty from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO in 2011 and spent the next several years studying planetary science at Brown University.  Stephanie obtained a Master of Science and PhD in Planetary Science studying hypervelocity impact cratering in 2013 and 2017, respectively.  She moved to Albuquerque in 2017 and is now a senior member of technical staff at Sandia National Laboratories, where she runs and analyzes simulations of hypervelocity impacts.  Stephanie has practice in teaching from her graduate studies, and she is excited to apply these skills with IbnSina Mindcrafters to bring robotics and programming skills to students in the Albuquerque community.

Zainab Mahroof

Zainab is a Journalism graduate from West Yorkshire. She received her BA Honours from the University of Huddersfield in July 2018. Zainab has one years’ worth of experience as a Communications and Public Relations Intern for the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust. During her time there, she managed the Charity’s social media presence and wrote press releases which were featured in local newspapers such as the Huddersfield Examiner and the Halifax Courier. Zainab is responsible for media engagements onbehalf of IbnSina Mindcrafters.

Founding Members

Abbas Akhil

Mohammed Ebeida

Mohamed was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt. He moved to the United States in 2005 to pursue his graduated studies. In 2008, he obtained a PhD in Mechanic and Aeronautical Engineering from the University of California, Davis. He then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh for two years before joining Sandia National Laboratories in 2010 as a research scientist. He currently lives in Albuquerque, he was one of the original instructors when IbnSina Mindcrafters started at the Islamic Center of New Mexico and then coached the FIRST Lego League teams associated with the ICNM local chapter.

Adnan Kassem

Adnan was born in Yemen; but shortly thereafter, he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he grew up. In 2014, he obtained a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering, with a concentration in Biochemical Engineering, from the University of New Mexico. Since 2014, he has worked in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry as a Process Engineer. He has been involved with IbnSina Mindcrafters as an instructor for the curriculum taught at ICNM and coaches the FIRST Lego League teams associated with the ICNM local chapter.
